The oldest record, kept in State archive, is in \u201cMain list of 1<sup>st<\/sup> graders of 1889\/1890 academic year\u201d. There were enrolled 16 girls and the principal of the school was the main teacher Zlati Palamidov.<\/p>\n<p>Until 1904 the school functions as a three-class institution with six teachers who graduated in Russia and West Europe: \u00a0Zlati Pramatarov \u2013 a Russian alumnus, Peter Noykov graduated in Germany, Vasil Karagiozov in France and Dimo Popov in Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>In 1904\/1905 4<sup>th<\/sup> and 5<sup>th<\/sup> classes were initiated and as a result the school became a Five-class Girls\u2019 School.<\/p>\n<p>In 1917\/1018 the school merged with the Boys\u2019 Pedagogic School and became a Medley Pedagogic School.<\/p>\n<p>In 1933 the Medley pedagogic school was closed and it was replaced by a newly-founded Medley Secondary School.<\/p>\n<p>In 1937 the secondary school was separated into boys\u2019 and girls\u2019 schools, which was named after Vasil Levski, on the 100-year anniversary of his birth.<\/p>\n<p>The composer Svetoslav Obretenov was a music teacher at the school from 1937 till 1939.<\/p>\n<p>In 1960\/1961 academic year the school became a Polytechnic secondary school. Two specialized classes in Biology and Music were introduced in 1982; Art intensive and Bulgarian language and History intensive classes were introduced a few years later.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1993 the school has been Vasil Levski Secondary School.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vasil Levski secondary school originates from the three-class girls\u2019 school which was found in 1888\/1889 academic year.
